Aww crap
We have a tooth. i was really hoping not to deal with that for another 3.5 months. i’ve had to break him from biting behavior a couple times already. i really don’t want to experience that with teeth. hubby, however, is super duper excited about this new development. and why wouldn’t he be? he doesn’t have any body parts at stake.

First fall (aka Thank God it wasn’t me!)
the hubby dropped the turkey today. Twice! the first time, he rolled off the bed and hubby managed to catch him before he hit the floor. the second time, hubby wasn’t as fast. fortunately, he only fell off an ottoman and onto carpeted floor. I’m glad we weren’t home on our tile floor. and, more importantly, I’m glad I didn’t do it!
Hi ho cheerio
We started the turkey on finger foods this weekend while visiting my sissy. Her dogs loved it since his fingers never got the food to his mouth. We ended up hand feeding him a few while peas one night and cheerios the next. He didn’t know what to think of it at first but it seemed like he decided he was in favor of it. He picks the cheerio up with his right hand fingers but then he puts his sleeping fingers in his mouth (left hand) before he gets the right hand up there. He’s blocking himself. Considering everything else that he picks up and immediately puts in his mouth, I thought this would be a no-brainer for him but I guess it’s a more complex skill than I realized. It’s going to be fun working on it at least 🙂
i win!
the boy started making real talking noises this week. before we left home thursday, he started saying na-na-na. today, on three separate occasions, he has said ma-ma. now i just need to catch it on video so i can prove it!

blow and suck
the turkey is all about the raspberries lately. he blows them constantly, which is stinkin adorable, but we’ve been having a heck of a time breaking him from blowing with food in his mouth. i think we’re finally starting to win that battle and i’m wearing a lot less of his food recently. the last few days, he’s started raspberrying while nursing. and then he’ll squirm and flip around to raspberry my arm. and then, yesterday, he decided to try out the opposite technique. i have a line of hickeys all the way up my inner arm from my wrist to my elbow. he’s such a silly goat.

new skills
the turkey amazes me more and more every day. he is growing and learning so quickly! this week, he had several big accomplishments. the first one he’s been working on for a few weeks now. he has a little rainforest light/sound/motion toy that hangs on the slats of his crib. the button to turn it on is a big toucan among the leaves on the front of it. over the last few weeks, he figured out that much… he knew that there was a button to turn it on somewhere in that vicinity and he kept kicking and hitting at the leaves, trying to make it work. this week, he finally got it. he’ll now spend ten, fifteen minutes just reaching up and hitting the button over and over – on, off, on, off… yes, we have had to replace the batteries now. 🙂 he’s also started whistling and standing up against the ottoman to play. such a big boy!
Mommy meltdown
I’ve officially had my first real breakdown. I’ve been crying almost non-stop the last couple days. I just feel utterly worn out… Physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually. Nearly 7 months of trying to keep all the balls in the air is catching up to me and I’m just wiped. It’s so hard to be a full time mommy, wife, employee, housekeeper, and chef. I’m praying fervently to find my way past this before I cause permanent psychological damage to my poor little boy.
