Christmas unwrap – the home edition

Posted by: arcanai   in home sweet home, love my husband, pix

it was late in the day when we got home Christmas day.  and, since we had to leave town earlier than expected due to gma h’s funeral, hubby had never had the chance to wrap gifts before we left.  so when we finally made it home, he rushed to get presents wrapped and we both changed into our pajamas so that we could begin the great gift exchange of 2008!

first, the decorations. i don’t have a lot of them but they’re very snowmany.  i love snowmens!

candlesticks, stocckings, and cards - oh my!

snowmens!

snowmens!

every year, we buy a new snowman ornament for our tree. we have one for every year except our first Christmas together (really, who’d have ever thought then that we’d still be together now!). inexplicably, there are also several duck ornaments.

hubby’s bestest gift was mario kart for wii. runner’s up included a new lap desk, a robe for the hot tub, a digital stud finder (beep beep beep beep!), a new beard trimmer, and a power toothbrush*.

my bestest gift was a gift certificate for an hour massage at the spa down the street! i was so excited when i opened it that i immediately teared up and gave my hubby a huge kiss. close runners up were a shiatsu neck massager (love it!), a gators zip-up sweatshirt, santa hats, and a power toothbrush*.

this is my favoritest Christmas decoration. i originally bought it about three years ago as a gift for my cousin but i just couldn’t bear to part with it. shhhh, don’t tell her!

* i have no idea why, but it was a tradition in my house growing up that we always had a new toothbrush in our stockings. my sissy and i have both continued the tradition, thought we don’t know why, and our hubby’s make fun of us every year for it!  this year, i did not put hubby’s in his stocking, which was where we started, and he was frantically looking for his toothbrush.  it might be a silly and nonsensical tradition but i guess it grows on you!

I always had a toothbrush, too.

I’ve not continued the trend. But I do miss it every year.

i truly have no idea what the logic is behind it. personally, i replace my toothbrush every three months, so what is the big deal about getting one annually? and yet… i continue to pass on the insanity!
